Happy Ho Ho Ho to You
Wow... can it really be true that my last blog entry was Nov. 30? I think that was also the last time I had a home cooked meal or did any laundry. Santa only workes 1 month out of the year ya see, so December can be much of a blur for the Santa photographer & cheeser. However, time stands still when a little girl runs to Santa for the jollyest of hugs, when a baby gazes in awe at his real beard and huge blue eyes, and when a child is terrified without knowing why.
It's been a true pleasure ushering hundreds of children to the lap of 'ole St. Nick this year. Some bring lists, some bring cookies, but they all bring Belief. Even if they've approached the age where they don't really want to believe in Santa... there's that underlying fear that it would be almost dangerous not to. Dangerous? Yes.
Because Santa embodies the belief in the goodness of human nature. The ultimate karma of the universe.... if you are good, then good things come to you in return. If you want to put that into one single word... pick one... Love. Peace. Faith. Harmony. Joy. Wonder. Happiness. Serenity. While Christ told us we that can't be saved by works alone, they are (or should be) a demonstration of His Love radiating from us. An everyday acknowledgement that we care about someone other that ourselves. So one child at a time this month I've watched as the future of our civilization sits and talks with the governor of good will, and I've held out hope thatBelief alone can carry us into a bright future.
